French Silk Plaid

This silk plaid has an asymmetric layout. The colors in the warp merge a bit which gives it a dark and mysterious feeling. Sometimes the colors feel hidden. At the same time the lighter colors balance out the palette. It is very crisp silk, which makes the surface a little hard. The palette below is basically blue and more blue, sometimes a touch of black, and more blue. This pattern and color story makes me think of Japanese indigo gone down a different cultural avenue. Here is the palette as seen by the Palette Finder app. I love how the basic 5 color starter palette has multiplied.

I purchased this piece in New York, sometime in the 1990's from a small textile design company WovenWind.
